We Remember

ZIMMERMANN, Sandy

May 26, 1949 — September 25, 2018

Sandy, born in Kelowna on May 26, 1949, passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the Kelowna Hospice House on September 25, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband Gerry and his three children Nikki (Justin), Chris (Jenine) and Sarah (Rod), her two sons Chris (Holly) Braun and Jeff Ritchey, seven grandchildren and two brothers Ron (Michele) Robertson and Grant (Sharon) Robertson.

Sandy will always be remembered by her beautiful and welcoming smile, especially when the door opened at either Robertson’s Clothing, Lakeside Pharmacy or at her own home.  She was born at KGH, went to school at Raymer Elementary and graduated from KSS.  She worked at Trench’s drug store, Underhill Clinic and Lakeside Pharmacy where she spent many happy years and made lasting friendships.

Sadly, Sandy’s life was tragically altered with the accidental death of her first husband, Ted, when their son Chris was still an infant. She grew into her strength after her devastating loss and welcomed her second blessing, son Jeff.  She was an independent and devoted mom and she and her boys shared many exciting camping trips and adventures together.  They both share in her love of nature and the outdoors and their skills reflect her influence and love.

Sandy’s life continued to grow and expand after she met and married Gerry.  Their life has been full of shared enjoyments and overcoming challenges with grace and gratitude.  She embraced becoming a stepmom and Nana to her 7 grandchildren from her blended family and their acceptance and love brought her much joy.

Sandy’s life was enriched by her many interests including travel, gardening, her family, countless dear friends and dancing.  She never went far without finding someone she knew, even on her travels.

She was consistent in reminding us the importance of making time to just be together.  Many feasts were gratefully attended, and special memories made that will now serve to bring comfort.

Sandy lived her life sharing her innate ability to bestow her kindness, compassion and empathy on all whose life she touched.

For Sandy, strangers were only friends she hadn’t met yet!  She was our gift on this road of life….

May she now rest in peace.
