We Remember

THATCHER, Bradley

— November 5, 2014

Dr. Thatcher passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, 5 November 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark. We have lost a great friend, scientist and thinker. A man with unique insights to create and deliver magic in protein science. Solving difficult puzzles brought great joy to Bradley.

He lived his life to the fullest, experiencing all the highs and lows, spending the last 16 years in the biotechnology field both in North America and Europe. Dr. Thatcher is the holder of more than 20 patents and 9 peer reviewed publications.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara and Giulia, his parents, Ernie and Chris, his two sisters Carmen (Bill) Justus and Tiffany Thatcher, niece Courtney and nephew Jet.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave., Kelowna, BC with a Celebration of Brad’s life to follow at 3:00 pm at the family restaurant, EK’s Grill, 401 Glenmore Road, Kelowna, BC

Please accept my sincere condolences for your tragic lose. Brad was a friend and colleague at the National Institutes of Health. He was always a source of vitality and inspiration, not to mention a great thinker also. We were most recently collaborating on a project he and Brian Martin had conjured up that would have revolutionized medicine as we know it. Unfortunately it will remain with Brad.

  • Adam Martin says:

Brad was a second brother to us. He was irresponsible and fun when it didn’t matter and a role model when it did. I am very thankful I was able to spend the time I did getting to know him. He will forever be missed.

  • Paul Mehain & Bob Kay says:

It is always hard to put into words the feelings one has when they hear a friend has passed. The sadness we feel, the shock we have yet to get over, the thoughts and memories we have of Brad will be with us for the rest of our lives. It is still hard to believe the man who we worked with, argued with, laughed with and learned with is gone. Condolences to Brad’s family and friends. Rest In Peace Brad.
