We Remember

Botham, Robert Harvey

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Robert Harvey Botham originated from Birch Hills Saskatchewan, moved across the prairies, Sherwood Park, Wetaskiwin, Edmonton, to settle in Kelowna for the last of his days to be with his mother and father. He was very much a family man.

He is predeceased by his mother, Wilda Patricia Botham (d. April 7, 2011) and Chester Leonard Botham (d. January 27, 2004). Both well known long-time residents in the Kelowna area.

He leaves behind his wife Phyllis, his children Darcy and Darren, his grand kids Tera, Bobby, Tyler, David, Spencer and Virginia. He was especially fond of the newest additions Sean, Bryn and Sadie.

Bob was a good man. He will be sorely missed.

He was a Best friend, a Father, a Brother, a Son, a Confidant, a decent human Being.

He was kind and patient. He was outgoing but shy.

He was wiser than wise and smarter than most.

He was humble.

He had a rapier wit and the greatest and most powerful sense of humour.

He was also kind and forgiving.

He employed all those qualities with zeal and fervency right up until a few minutes before he left this earth.

Bob Botham was not afraid!

He was the kind of person that you wanted to be like.

The kind of person I want to be like.

If you knew Bob and want to come down to the Graveside this Friday at 2:30 PM September 12, 2014 at the Kelowna Cemetery for the interment, you are more than welcome and encouraged to do so. Just a simple gathering to say goodbye to a really decent human being and to take the time to remember to be kind to one another. I think that would be his most cherished aspect of his legacy. Just taking a moment to be kind to someone, that’s how we can honour Bob.

I asked Dad if there was anything that he wanted me to say in his obit and he said, “Say thanks to everyone.”

…and to all the hundreds of great people that we met on his health journey that did so much to keep him alive all this time…

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
