BUDZINSKI, Shirley Anne

May 22, 1948 — August 6, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shirley Anne Budzinski in Kelowna, BC on August 6, 2014. Shirley was born in Edmonton, Alberta on May 22, 1948. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Budzinski. Shirley will be missed by her children: Gerald Budzinski and wife Mahalia, Michelle Hair and husband Richard. Shirley’s grandchildren Kylie, Alisa, Darcy, Bella, Brook and Moira were her pride and joy. Shirley had a big family and is survived by her brothers Donald and Arvey, as well as her sisters Judy and Brenda. Shirley was predeceased by her father Dave, mother Anne, her brother Russell, and her sister Margaret. Shirley and her husband Michael were pioneers in the Tourism industry in the Yukon. They opened the first RV rental business in the Yukon and developed the European RV Tourism market from scratch starting in 1978. They operated this business for 20 years in the Yukon before moving to the Shuswap area. Throughout her life she loved to gather with family members for holidays and celebrations. Her annual sister reunions were spent in laughter, toasting memories, exploring shops and playing the slots in casinos! Shirley always had a lucky streak. It was important for her to spend quality time with her grandchildren in the summers. She enjoyed spoiling them with love, affection, and thoughtful gifts throughout the years. Shirley enjoyed the pursuit of many hobbies in retirement such as gardening, sewing, painting, and quilting. She met many new and cherished friends exploring her passions. Shirley was known for her outgoing personality, kind heart, and generous nature. She will be missed and loved by many. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. The family extends their thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff in the ICU. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation (www.kghfoundation.com).     Our sincerest condolences to all of your family. I had the priviledge to work with Shirley, Mike and Gerald while they operated Klondike Recreational Rentals in Whitehorse. She was great to work for and a real promoter of our Yukon. She will be very missed by all who knew her. Cherish all of your great memories.
