We Remember

GRAHAM, Thomas David

February 19, 1948 — March 3, 2015

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Tom. Predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Sneddon (Glasgow, Scotland) father Thomas Graham (Niagara Falls, NY USA) and his brother Barry Cockerline (Belleville, Ontario). Tom is survived by his wife, Lynn, with whom he shared and walked through life for 24 happy, fun years. Tom served in the RCMP from 1969 to 1994 and was on the musical ride for two of those years. Retiring from the RCMP Tom went on to work for Safeway for 10 years. Upon retirement Tom and Lynn successfully operated their B and B and met wonderful people from all over the world. Tom was never happier than sitting at the breakfast table telling funny stories and laughing with guests.

Tom really enjoyed his Friday afternoons with the boys at Rosie’s Pub with his favourite waitresses Nan, Lynda and Dona and sharing a rum and coke with his buddies and reminiscing about old times.

Ten years ago Tom was fortunate enough to discover that he had a brother (Barry). Tom always thought he was an only child and was delighted to find he had a wonderful family in Ontario. He loved his sister-in-law Carolyn, nieces Dana (Stan), Heather (Adri) and nephew Terry (Christine) and all of their children.

Tom loved to be around good friends and family. Whenever they came to dinner Tom would pour over Lynn’s cookbooks to find a good recipe for dessert. He had quite a reputation for his famous bread pudding with whisky rye sauce!!

Tom also enjoyed a good game of crib. He would often be found playing this game with his father in law Al or his good friend Nelson. Whenever he was winning he would announce to the room “do you want to know whose winning?” and we would all shout “No!!”

Tom especially enjoyed his visits to France to visit his brother and sister in law (Paul and Jen) and his nieces Stephanie (Karim) and Lucy (Thierry) with whom he had a very special bond. He will also be missed by his Godson, Graham Reid and his father Terry Reid.

Throughout his many challenges with cancer Tom continued to smile and keep his positive outlook on life. A testament to who he was. A gentleman with a big heart and a passion for life. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, especially his mother and father in law, Jan and Al Davies for whom there will always be a special place in their hearts.

Rest in peace my darling. We miss you…..

There will be a Celebration of Tom’s Life at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC at 1:00 pm on the 15th April 2015.

    Tom was in my troop when we trained at Depot back in Feb-Aug 69. He always seemed to have a smile on his face no matter what we were going thru at the time. He was a real gentleman.     I learned to ride with Tom and spent 2 years on the Musical Ride with him. Tom and I played a lot of golf and I remember Tom as a fun loving fine friend. I wish to express my condolences to his family and I am sorry we lost contact.

    My Godfather and the man of who’s name I share. Uncle Tom lived well, lived smart and lived kindly. You kept him young aunt Lynn no matter how many birthdays came and went. Love you both

    Tom took me under his wing when I arrived in Surrey from Ottawa in 1975. What a great guy. He never raised his voice, he was always in a good mood and while on graveyards we would grab toast and peanut butter at his res. I am very sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to Lynn and family. God bless.

    Our sincere condolences Lynn. I worked at headquarters and knew Tom from there & then you folks lived on our street for several years. Tom did phone Ron sometimes last year so we knew he had cancer. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful person and liked by everyone. Ron & Marie Budd. 21A St, Surrey.

    We are So sorry Lynn to have lost Tom. We remember our good times with you and our camping trips,lost frying pan in the Skagit! Tom,s special birthday 50th. We were so pleased to have some time with him in November. love you Lynn

    My condolences for your loss. I met Tom in 1975 as part of a high school law class ride-a-long program at QE in Surrey. We spent many hours together and he was a friend for many years. I last spoke to Tom just after he left the Force.He was looking forward to his new career and he was as upbeat as I always remembered him to be. I’ll always remember his influence he had on me.

    Tom came over to Birmingham England to work on the Air India disaster enquiry with Pat Cummins.He became very respected by the detectives in the Special Branch unit I commanded where his team were based.

    He was professional and became a very popular with the team he working in. My only criticism of him I will make is that he proceeded to steal the prettiest policewoman on my staff and whisk her off to Canada. His friends here in the UK are very sad to hear of his passing and send our condolences to Lynn.

    He was credit to the RCMP and Canada.

    I am so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I worked with Tom for many years in Surrey and then HQ. Tom really enjoyed life and loved being with his many friends. I admired his positive outlook on life even when he was experiencing challenges with his health. He was never happier than when he was with Lynn. Thanks for your friendship and memories Tom.
