We Remember

HULL, Stephanie

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

With strength, courage and honour, Stephanie passed away after a lengthy battle with her illness at the age of 84 years in Edmonton, Alberta on October 19, 2014. Left to cherish her memory are her family: children, Andy (Spasa), Frank (Lorraine) and Frances (Dave) Olinkin ; grandchildren, Dan, John (Alana), Ryan (Sharla) and Tara (Dylan) Gyori; as well as 5 great grandchildren and extended relatives.

Stephanie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank who died in 2009.

Stephanie was born in Skopice, Slovenia on June 11, 1932. Stephanie along with three brothers were raised on the family farm. She married Frank in 1951 in Brezice, Slovenia. They had 2 sons, Andy and Frank. In 1957 Stephanie and Frank immigrated to Canada with the desire to provide a better life and future opportunities for their children. They travelled west and settled in Edson, Alberta where their daughter Frances was born. Frank started a career with CN Railway and the family resided in numerous locations throughout Alberta before settling in Jasper. While raising her family, Stephanie worked in the hospitality industry in various hotels and restaurants. Stephanie and Frank retired in 1987 and moved to the Okanagan Valley in B.C.

Stephanie enjoyed numerous activities including gardening, cooking, needle point, entertaining friends and family and volunteering at the Catholic Thrift Store.

Stephanie lost her beloved husband, Frank to a lengthy battle to cancer in 2009.

In February 2014 Stephanie came to Edmonton, Alberta to be closer to her immediate family in her final months. Stephanie pulled together friends from all walks of life, young and old, she taught us about life, love, death and dignity.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Adam and the staff at Spring Valley Care in Kelowna and Dr. Sarah Burton-Macleod, Dr. Chana and all the staff at Mel Miller Hospice at the Edmonton General Hospital and Tertiary Palliative Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital who filled her final days with, love compassion and exceptional care.

A Service of Rembrance of Stephanie’s Life will follow at a later date.  Interment will follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
