Condolences

I didn’t know her well, but she enjoyed walking past my house with her smile and dear friend…I think his name is Ralph….We exchanged flowers and snacks and always enjoyed a quick chat across the fence or in the driveway…Boy she was a quick walker. Sometimes I would see her walk by and by the time I was out the door she would be half way up the road……God bless your heart my dear…Rest now and allow the rest of us to absorb a piece of your wisdom and understanding.

  • Sue gorges says:

To the Family of Franziska Karl:

I want to send my deepest condolence to you all. I am very sorry that I am not able to attend the service and life celebration of your Mother as I have to fly to Thunder Bay, Ontario 2 days earlier. In my thoughts and prayers I will be with you this day.

Many years ago, on a Sunday morning after Mass, I poured myself a cup of coffee in our church hall, when I noticed a lady speaking English with a strong German accent. I walked over and introduced myself, “what part of Germany did you come?” was my first question. Dayern was the answer – “so am I” was my reply. That was the beginning of a friendship and mutual trust that grew very strong over the years. We mad a bus trip along the beautiful Oregon coast and California enjoying each day. We also shared the joys and many hurdles of our lives over weekly lunches or afternoon coffees with cake and a liquor on the side playing Romi 500 or other German music. It was always so much fun.

Franziska had many fine qualities, but one stood out “COURAGE”. She battled the storms of her life with the same courage and determination as she battled the waves of the Okanagan Lake reaching the shore! Her life’s journey has ended, but I am sure a little Angel (the little girl she lost on this earth) will have greeted and guided her through Heavens Gate into the arms of her creator. So, Christel wipe away the tears with the knowledge that you gave 100% of your love, time and CARE for your mother by handling the so urgently needed change of her living quarters and all the monthly obligations in her new home. Your frequent visits, driving from Seattle by yourself all the way to Kelowna, dispite your own busy work schedule has brought so much sunshine in her later years. She will now bless you and guide your life from above.

And now, I say ” Good bye my friend, until we meet again”

    Rose Altmann

  • Carrie Skinner says:

Franziska was such a positive person. I met here as a staff in her retirement community and encouraged her, she didn’t need much encouraging, to come on weekly walks to the Mission Park Greenway and other natural places that she loved to experience. Her smile was as broad as her stride. Everyone loved her. We talked about her mountains and I shared my years of hiking in the Rockies. I will remember her warmth, girlish giggle and considerate manner to all. She gave me strength of purpose to live a full and active life. I will miss her. Condolences to her lovely daughter, Christine and family.
