Peacefully passed away on November 25, 2014 at the age of 75 in Kelowna, BC. He leaves behind son Jason McCombs (Theresa), daughter Jodi Nazer (Rob), grandchildren Brooke, Blake, Madison and Mackenzie whom all loved and cherished him. He has also left behind his sister Kerry Enns (Brian), brother in law Larry McClarty (Jackie) and many nieces, nephews and great friends. Doug was predeceased by wife, Gerri, mother Marge McCombs and father Herb McCombs.
Doug had a few hobbies… indulging in a bakers’ dozen from time to time ,wood working and of course he also enjoyed bragging about the numerous beer consumption records he held at legion # 9. He loved listening to music and was a fantastic dancer, he could sure jive. Hot weather was important to Doug he loved to travel to Mexico and down south visiting friends. But by far his favorite hobby were his children, their spouses as well as his grandchildren. A dedicated father and grandfather throughout the years he was always there for all of us at any time. We could not have asked for anything more, we were blessed with the best father.
Doug worked for Pembina Dodge for 38 years before retiring in 2004. He was a very loyal company man and he was proud to work there. Doug was very well known in the automotive industry in Winnipeg, he won numerous awards for his exceptional sales work. He had many friends and great customers in the industry and he will be missed by all.
Dougie had the best sense of humor and always stood out in a crowd. His laugh could be heard miles away. He had that gift of making people laugh even at the end of his life. Doug had an abundance of friends everywhere through work and play but his best friend was his loving wife of 48 years, Gerri. Dad missed her so much they were inseparable until her passing; now they are together again. We would like to think that they are dancing together lighting up a room.
Dad and Grandpa you will be forever loved and remembered. Your memory will always live on with us through laughter. We know that you loved us all… as we loved you and will continue too.

Our Deepest sympathy to all of Dougs Family. I will never forget almost 10 years ago meeting them after just moving to Kelowna West Estates. My not so shy 3 year old daughter Amber introduced me to them while we were out for an evening walk. They were both so welcoming. Doug often would stop and give me a lift to work on his way up to the mall and would often stop in to see me at work. He would also sometimes stop and give Amber rides down from the school bus. He was always smiling even as his health was starting to fail him. He will be sorely missed by Amber and I. He was such a wonderful Friend. Sincerely Karen, Michael and Amber MacKenzie
My family and I send you our deepest condolences. I will certainly miss my neighbor, and close friend. We certainly shared many laughs and meals down town and always ended that up with desert at DQ where the girls worked.

Condolences to both Jason & Jodi and their family. I remember the good times we had with both your parents and the hot tub parties while you lived in Winnipeg. I will also miss the parties around the campfire when camping together. You are being met by Gunter, Dave and Lloyd.

Dougie had left a message quite awhile ago for me to contact him, he just wanted to talk about old times, which he loved to do as we all know.
I am so glad that I phoned him and we had a lovely conversation and I will truly never forget Doug or Gerry, we loved them both.

Sincere condolences on the passing of your father. What an absolutely incredible man! We were at Forall with your folks. Never a more proud loving father, loving husband, and absolutely incredible jolly man. We only need to reflect on the past to hear his jovial burst of laughter. You were all so very fortunate to have such amazing parents. Each of all their friends has our own special memories of your Dad and Mom which we will always cherish. We truly cannot imagine how much he will be missed by yourselves, and of course his precious grandchildren. They must have been the light of his world – as you Jason, Jodi, Theresa & Rob were.
