We Remember

OSBORNE, Marion Jean

Passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the age of 91. Marion was born in Eatonia, SK and she and her twin brother, Wilf, were the youngest of six children. They all grew up on a farm near Eatonia and attended school in a one-room school house. She had many happy memories of those days, even though times were hard. After completing her grade 12, Marion moved to Winnipeg and took a Business Course. She soon found work at a small insurance company and made friendships there that lasted a lifetime. It was through one of those friends that she met her future husband, Larry Osborne. They were married 63 years. Marion worked part-time after her marriage at the Celebrity Box Office, selling tickets for the World Adventure Tours and Rainbow Stage, but she was mainly a homemaker and an excellent cook. After “retirement,” Marion did some volunteer work for Kelowna General Hospital and she enjoyed travelling with Larry to visit family and friends.

Marion was predeceased by her husband Larry, her parents Howard and Ferne Alexander, her sisters Audrey Goodman and Valerie Spillett and her brothers Randall and Wilf Alexander.

She is survived by her loving daughter Barbara Osborne, sister Trudy Weir and sisters-in-law: Rose Alexander and Jessie Gothard; also many nieces, nephews and friends – old and new.

The family would like to extend warm thanks to Dr. Tereposky and Catherine for years of care and to the wonderful staff at Mountainview Village and Village at Smith Creek for their kindness and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marion’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. In keeping with Marion’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. A private family interment will be held at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
