We Remember

PATTERSON – Margaret Jean (Leonard)

July 26, 1944 — February 11, 2015

Our precious and beautiful mother, wife and friend passed away peacefully surrounded in love with her family by her side at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital at 9:47 am on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.

With an unwavering positive spirit, Marg bravely faced recent health issues that were beyond her control ending her difficult journey with profound dignity and quiet grace.

She was affectionately known as Margie to her devoted husband and best friend of 28 years, Gregg and their beloved dog Oakley of Blind Bay BC and was an amazing mother to her children: Bradley Leonard Baker of Calgary AB, Loretta Jean Baker of Kamloops BC, Wendy Leigh Baker of Fort St. John BC and Cindy Patterson of Crossfield AB.  Thank you Mom for loving us unconditionally!

She is also the beloved sister of Kenneth Charles Leonard of Kelowna BC and Grandma Gregg to her loving grandchildren: James, Brittni-Jean and Nichole Rae Baker and Brent and Scott Leonard.  Several other extended family and her many dear friends will fondly remember Marg.

She is reunited now with her mother Elsie (2014), her father Art (2001), some very special friends along with many of her cat and dog companions that have gone before.

Margaret was born in Montreal to parents Arthur and Elsie Leonard (Odnokon) and raised in Saskatchewan and Alberta – residing and proudly raising her family on her own in Calgary where she lived most of her life.

As a young women she worked at Silverwood Dairies, Penley Drugs and The Calgary Herald: and throughout her life was a responsible and dedicated employee of Mobil Oil, The Royal Bank and Telus.

She was never happier until she met and married Greg, her best friend and soulmate sharing very special memories on their honeymoon around the world. In her later years, together with Gregg and Oakley she semi-retired to Blind Bay where she established a beautiful and comfortable home for the three of them and enjoyed her part-time work at RBC in Salmon Arm BC.

Giving of herself without complaining and asking of nothing in return.  Always together, the three of them enjoyed many trips in their holiday trailer to Manitoba, the West Coast and the United States.

She took great enjoyment in preparing many meals for her family and friends.  She loved to putter around the house and yard as well as in the garden. But more so the many happy times she shared just lounging around the yard and on the decks with pride in all of her beautiful homes.

Although we cannot imagine now our world without her, we are content and at peace knowing how lovely she was and how much she loved us all.  She will remain close in our hearts always.

A very special and sincere thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital who gently guided our family and tenderly cared for Marg, as well our many friends who have expressed loving sentiments – your kindness is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.

Those who wish are warmly invited to join us for an informal Celebration of Marg’s Life to be held in the Family Centre of Springfield Funeral Home, Kelowna BC on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm.

She will be privately laid to rest next to her parents at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Kelowna BC at which time we her family will say goodbye, TTYL and see you again soon – we love you!
