    Heartfelt Condolences on your loss, and nothing but fond memories of the kindness and hospitality that was the Phelps household and Maple Avenue. On this sad occasion I am filled with fond memories of your family: playing in our yards on Maple St.; trick or treating in-town; going to AdventureLand; having my shoes cleaned as I entered your house … Deepest condolences.

    Best Regards,
    Dale

  • Val Castle says:

    Dear Dorothy,
    Colin and I were very sorry to hear of Don’s passing recently. Unfortunately we did not see the announcement until after the funeral.
    We did not know Don well, but he was such a good role model for your wonderful family. Your oldest boys were great friends of our two;
    and you helped me get used to Canadian childhood again after the more formal style in England. I was always so grateful that our boys made such good friends with the “Phelps gang” which eased their adjustment to Canada – and was amazed how you could have so many kids around without looking frazzelled!!!!
    I noted that Dean, Bill and Laura all live in Victoria, so I mentioned this to Allan (lives in Victoria as well) and Geoff (lives in North Van). Hopefully they may find time to meet up and share a beer.
    We ourselves are planning a move to the coast next fall, as we feel too far away at this stage of our lives to keep on trekking to Vancouver.
    All the best for the future (I am not sure where you are living now).
    With sympathy,
    Colin and Val Castle

  • Terry Conville says:

    Very sorry to here of passing of Don (Mr. Phelps to me). He was a fine man and a great coach to myself and many of the kids he coached in various sports in Kelowna. I really enjoyed growing up on Maple Street with your family as an integral part of my early and teenage life. I hold many memories with you all on the street, at the school, on the sports field, or on the ski hill.

    I send you all my heartfelt sympathies and wish all of you the very best for you and yours!

    Terry Conville
