It is with many fond memories that we announce the passing of Alan John Robinson on Saturday July 5, 2014 at the age of 78. Al passed away peacefully in the early morning hours while visiting his son and daughter in law in Kelowna, B.C.

Left to remember him is his long-time partner Donna and the mother of his children Dorothy. His three daughters; Wendy (Charlie), Kim, Robin and his son Scot (Heather). He will be missed by 6 grand-children, 5 great-grandchildren and extended family Keith (Jaime) and boys. Al was predeceased by his parents, his sisters and an infant son Bradley.

Al was an amazing man. He was born on a farm in Eastern Saskatchewan and came from very humble roots. This did not stop him from working very hard and after a long illustrious career he attained the position of Corporate Secretary – Senior Vice President with the Federated Co-op Retailing System.

He loved the outdoors like none other. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and sports enthusiast. He played all sports as a younger man but his main love was baseball. He hunted his whole life and was most comfortable getting up at 4am to sit in a goose blind, jig for pickerel or push a bush for a whitetail. He fell in love with Tobin Lake in the early 70’s and had a trailer site for a few years. This eventually became a family cabin that many people enjoyed for several years. He eventually built his dream retirement home on the lake, which he just recently sold when his health forced him to move back to Saskatoon.

Al was a wonderful partner, father, teacher and mentor. Whether you knew him as Alan, Al, Dad, Grandpa, Bud or chum he was an inspiration to many and proved that hard work and commitment will always win out at the end of the day. He will be missed greatly, but has touched so many people’s lives that he will be fondly remembered as well. We know, by now, he will already have played several hands of Bridge with his sisters. It will now be up to our Lord to man the anchor rope, help set up decoys, push bush and pick the new potatoes with Al. Until we meet again. We love you.
