RUSSO, Guerino “Gary”

Russo, Guerino (Gary) Born April 14, 1932 in Cleto, Prov. of Cosenza, Italy. Passed away January 28, 2015 at the age of 82. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ida, two sons Orlando and Lorni, and one daughter Linda. Gary was Nono to ten grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by an infant son Gary, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Gary was that last surviving sibling in a family of 8.

Services at St. Charles Garnier Church, 3645 Benvoulin Road. Prayers service 7:00 pm Friday, January 30th. Viewing to follow. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Saturday, January 31. Private Family interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations the Alzheimer’s Society in Gary’s name would be appreciated.

    Ciao Zio, eravamo in Calabria quando ci ha lasciati per sempre. Forse era un segno del destino di trovarci sulle tue terre quando hai scelto di partire. Non lo abbiamo saputo subito, ma abbiamo pensato a te quando eravamo sulle tue terre di Cannavali. Molta gente ci ha parlato di te, come se quello che hai vissuto in questi luoghi non si dimentichera mai. Tanti anni sono passati da quando hai lasciato il tuo paese, ma la gente si ricordava di te come se il tempo si fosse fermato.
    Addio Zio, ritorneremo di nuovo dove sei cresciuto, anche per sentire ancora la forza del to carattere per partire lontano e vivere una nuova vita. Questa vita che é stata un esempio per tutti, fatta di lavoro ma anche di amore profondo per tutti i tuoi familiari, amici, parenti vicini e lontani.
    Hai sempre aperto il tuo cuore, e le lacrime certe volte non sapevano nascondere le tue emozioni, quando siamo venuti a trovarti questi ultimi anni. Eri sempre a dirci di tornare in Canada, come per dirci ci volevi vicini con té.
    La tua tenerezza ci ha sempre commosso, stai sicuro che ad ogni nostro viaggio torneremo a salutarti dovunque tu sia. Siamo certi che sarai contento di sentire la nostra presenza intorno alla tua famiglia, che sei riuscito a creare e portare avanti.
    Lasciaci una ultima volta dire quanto noi due e i nostri figli ti abbiamo sempre stimato, il tuo giudizio e sempre stato fatto di moderazione, in qualunque situazione.
    Alla zia, a tutti i tuoi figli possiamo dire che la tua partenza ci fa molto male, volessimo essere vicini per stringervi tutti contro di noi e sentire i nostri cuori battere come se fosse uno solo. Penseremo forte a voi durante il tuo ultimo viaggio, la dove ti trovi sara per noi la prima destinazione quando torneremo a Kelowna.
