We Remember
ADAMS, Gloria Ruth
August 23, 1954 — May 7, 2024
The family of Gloria Adams is deeply saddened to announce the news of her recent passing on May 7, 2024, at Hospice House in Kelowna, BC.
Gloria fought a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis. She leaves behind her son Sean, daughter Stefanie, and former husband Stuart. Gloria also had many close friends in the Kelowna area, with whom she’s had many fond memories.
Gloria was born in Montreal, QC on August 23, 1954, to the late Abe and Sylvia Phillips. She attended Concordia University in Montreal and York University in Toronto, ON, graduating with a Bachelor of Administrative Studies. She met Stu in ’85 and a few years later they got married in the backyard of their house in Scarborough, ON and had 2 children, Sean and Stefanie. Gloria’s passions were travelling and live theatre. She spent many nights volunteering at the Peterborough Theatre Guild with her son Sean. Gloria also had a love for baseball, which she got from her father Abe. She was very close with him and always spoke about how she cherished the memories she had of him, and the love the two of them had for baseball. I’m sure that wherever she is they’re both together again watching a jay’s game, or reminiscing about the expos. It was her dream to retire in Kelowna, and in 2019 she did. She spent her time on the beach or visiting wineries in the Okanagan with her son Sean.
Gloria was a wonderful, loving mother and will be missed every day. May she rest peacefully, surrounded by the views of the Okanagan, and in the arms of her father.
The family is grateful for the care of Nurse Practitioner Jessica Robertson, Dr Wolfe, Dr Gardner, and everyone at BC Cancer. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice House in Kelowna for their care and compassion. A cremation and private ceremony will take place in Kelowna. Any memorial donations in Gloria’s honour may be made to Myeloma Canada.
