We Remember
CHISWELL, Colin James
—
December 1, 1937 – November 12, 2024
Colin Chiswell passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024 at the Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna BC. He was 86 years young and still had his witty British sense of humour.
Loving husband to his wife Carole Chiswell, forever friend to Norma Chiswell. Brother to Ron and the late Bill. Cherished by his children David (Julie) and Kevin (Tracy). Grandfather to Tristan, Brody, Leighton & Riley. Loved by Carole’s extended family Richard, Bonnie, Riché, Roanan and Rylan. He will be greatly missed by all.
Colin lived a full and adventurous life. Born and raised in the seaside village of Porlock, England his diverse career started as a Bobby in Bermuda, a CMA and Technology Executive for many years in eastern Canada/US and concluded as an IT consultant in beautiful Kelowna BC, where he would eventually retire. Throughout his successful professional life, Colin was a constant learner with the intelligence and courage to always try something new. If you needed to understand something complicated…you just asked Colin, he would either explain it or tell you to read the ffff-antastic manual!
An avid athlete his whole life; Colin enjoyed playing competitive soccer (until he was almost 60!), badminton, golf, and pickle ball. When he was not playing, he was coaching soccer, attending his son’s sports games, or teaching the neighbourhood kids how to play cricket. His competitive spirit was also present around the dining room table where he enjoyed playing Euchre, Bridge and other games with family and friends. He was always passionate about playing and competing regardless of the sport.
Colin met Carole on the golf course in Ottawa and instantly they were the perfect match. They loved and teased each other, enjoyed food, friends and entertaining. They warmly welcomed everyone into the amazing life they created together in Peachland and Kelowna.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Central Okanagan Hospice House, as well as to Riché and Carole’s dear friend Jenny, for the extraordinary care, support, and love they provided. Their dedication in sharing his favorite pastimes and comforting him during his time in palliative care meant the world to him and to his family.
RIP Colin – you will be missed!

Dear Carole, Normie, David, Kevin and families … Uncle Chisie (is what I always called him), was a wonderful caring man, devoted to his family.
