We Remember

DROVER, Shooter Dillon

November 27, 1994 — June 21, 2024

Shooter Dillon Drover, aged 29, of Kelowna, passed away on June 21, 2024. Shooter was known for his quiet yet adventurous spirit, his love for hockey, hiking, and fishing, and his genuine, compassionate nature.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Walter and Ida Drover. He is survived by his beloved Grams Margaret; loving parents, Greg and Shawna; his siblings, Jamie, Beau, and Gracie; his cherished niece and nephew, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends.

His passion for hockey extended beyond the rink as he spent a few years refereeing kids’ hockey, sharing his love for the game with the next generation. His skills and dedication were also evident in his work as a drywaller, where he was known for his precision and hard work.

Shooter had a knack for telling jokes, always bringing a smile to those around him. He was a caring and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many with his genuine kindness.

In the last month of his life, he was able to enjoy time with his family, playing cards, going for a family drive to get a bite to eat, fishing with his Dad, and telling them that he loves them.

He will be forever loved, and missed by everyone, and will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Teen Challenge Chillawack, a cause close to Shooter’s heart.

    Dear Drover family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. I met Shooter at Joshua House Recovery Ministries. We both came to Joshua House within a couple days of eachother. Shooter was my roommate for the first week or so. Then within a few weeks we both became cabin monitors. We got to know eachother quite well. And we both made so much progress. My heart sunk when I learned of his passing. Shooter was such an amazing person. Big heart. He changed lives in the men at Joshua House, including mine. He will be sorely missed.
    Sincerely Massimo Di Cicco

  • Amanda Saunders says:

Shooter and I were close for a short period a few years ago. I actually called him Dillon, most of the time, because he once told me that’s what he preferred. Dillon was such a reflective person – I loved going for coffee walks with him and having deep conversations about worldly issues and also nonsensical hypotheticals. It was like his mind had a million ideas ready to burst out at any moment, so you never know where a conversation would take you! He had such a warm presence and great sense of humor, and it’s hard to believe that he is no longer with us to share that with the world.
I am deeply saddened hearing of his passing, and I wish his family all the best as they grieve and heal from their loss. He will be missed.
