We Remember

JAMES, Marjorie Ernestina

March 13, 1931 — May 22, 2024

Marjorie passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93, on May 22, 2024. Left to cherish her memories are her sister Doris (George); son Randy (Nicole), granddaughter Connie (Ken), and great-granddaughter Hallee; and son Graeme (Jane-Marie), granddaughters Kathleen and Ellen, and grandson Connor.

Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Ernie and Ina Greavison; siblings Ronnie, Walter, and Joyce; and husband Doug.

Marjorie was born March 13, 1931, in Nelson, BC, and she spent her early years on a small farm in Slocan Park. Doug and Marjorie were married July 5, 1952, and settled in the Slocan Valley where Randy and Graeme were born, and where Marjorie began working for Inland Natural Gas. In 1967, they relocated to Penticton and then to Kelowna, where Marjorie continued her career with the gas company. She retired from BC Gas in 1996.

Marjorie was always up for an adventure and loved to travel; road trips and cruises, and if there was golf involved it was even better. She and Doug spent many happy hours golfing and seeing the world, but the thing she most enjoyed was being Grandma. There were scooter/bike trips to the park, with Grandma running to keep up; shopping sprees in the Dollar Store; badminton tournaments in the backyard; dress-ups; kitchen experiments; and epic bubble baths in the jetted bathtub. Grandma was game for just about anything.

Marjorie was a great listener. She was kind, patient, and always had a smile and a warm welcome for family and friends. She kept in touch with family and kept family members in touch with each other. She was devoted to Doug through 68 years of marriage. Randy and Graeme and her grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she was a loving and supportive mother-in-law. We miss her so much.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Village at Smith Creek for their kind and compassionate care of Marjorie.

No formal service will be held.
