We Remember
KIRANAS, Politimi “Timi”
October 1, 1938 — December 6, 2020
We are deeply saddened to announce that our well-loved and loving mother passed away suddenly December 6, 2020 in her home. She is in the care of her Lord and Saviour, as her work is done here on Earth.
She was born in Sparta, Greece on October 1, 1938. She is the 5th of 10 children born to Vasili and Ioanna Constantopoulos. She travelled across the ocean to begin a new life in Canada in 1955. She was married to our father, Panagiotis Vavaroutsos, for many years and relocated with him from Thunder Bay, ON to Canmore, AB. She moved to Kelowna BC in 1981 where she married her second husband, Christos Kiranas, in 1982. She moved to Edmonton in 2001 before returning to Kelowna in 2008.
She loved nothing more than making wonderful Greek meals for her family; chatting over a cup of coffee; enjoying dinner with a glass of wine; watching her favourite crime shows; and connecting with family on the phone every day. She read her beloved Bible daily; loved jigsaw puzzles and word searches; and took great pride in her family photo collages on every wall of her home. Mom remained independent to the end and was a bright light to so many.
Timi leaves to grieve her children Cathy (Paul); Nick (Laurie); Jenny (Bill); Bessy (Jaime); grandchildren Landon (Paige); Timi (Richard); Theresa (Reed) and great grandchildren Lexi; Sydney. Also step-grandchildren; Dalyce (Bruno); Daena; Vanessa (Ryan); Ryan and great step-children, Cole; Lucas; Ashlyn; Charlotte; Emmett. Also left to mourn Timi are siblings Toula, Maria, Dimitri, Soula and Aicaterini, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Timi was predeceased by husband Christos Kiranas; former husband, Panagiotis Vavaroutsos; and siblings Peter, Nitsa, Helen, and Niki.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a later date, in the spring or summer of 2021.

My condolences to the entire family. I am so very saddened by the sudden passing of my sweet Aunt Timi. She brightened a lot of lives with her positive energy, wisdom and her gigantic smile which lit the room. I will always remember our wonderful chats & her awesome Greek meals. Sleep well Thea.
Deepest sympathy to you all as you mourn the loss of your wonderful Mom, Grandma and siblings. She always had the most wonderful smile and her eyes sparked with love. May you take comfort in knowing she is with the Lord and watching over you. Much love to you all.
One memory that will stay with me for ever is the road trips (even if only to Banff) having to listen to Greek music. Sometimes we could listen to Elvis or Neil Diamond. I have lots of very fond memories and it always makes me smile to think of them. My heart goes out to the family, friends and all who knew her as she was a very special lady. So sorry for your loss
