We Remember
KLAMUT, Elizabeth
June 12, 1921 — September 3, 2024
Our dear mother, Elizabeth, passed away on September 3, 2024, at the amazing age of 103. She was born in Killaly, Saskatchewan on June 12, 1921, to Margareta and Andreas Runzer.
When she was 14, Elizabeth and her family moved to Kelowna, BC from the prairies, and it was here that she spent many years enjoying the sunshine and the company of family and friends. Always hardworking and determined, Elizabeth began working at a young age and experienced several different employment opportunities, including sorting in the packing houses, working in the orchards, as a nanny, and a position at Tranquille Clinic in Kamloops, BC.
Upon her return from Tranquille, Elizabeth met her husband John in Kelowna, and together they made the move to Prince Rupert, BC. Although she missed the warmer weather and her family in Kelowna, Elizabeth made many dear friends during her time there. She was also employed at the Prince Rupert Daily News and pursued seasonal work at the canneries. Finally, upon our dad’s retirement (30 years later), her dream of moving back to Kelowna became a reality.
Elizabeth’s creativity was evident in so many ways, including her love of cooking and baking, fine needlework, and gardening. Her cakes, pastries, donuts, and apple strudel were second to none.
Elizabeth lived independently until her admission to hospital. She will be lovingly missed and remembered for her delightful laugh, love for her children, and her generosity and kindness. Her husband John passed away in 2010, and she is survived by her daughter Janice and son Garry.

Janice and Gary,
David and I are so sorry for your loss. Your mom had such a good, long life. And it was amazing she was still in her condo and living independently. Amazing! She had the best giggle and smile and was a beautiful person inside and out. We will miss her!

Janice and Garry. Your family was an integral part of my growing up. I will never forget your Mom’s laugh and her great cooking and sense of humour. She was more to me than that but those traits certainly stand out. To be able to share her birthdays these past years has truly been an honour. I will miss her in my heart and am so thankful for our friendship. That last hug I had with her will never be forgotten. It touched my soul..
