MCEWAN, Janet Benson

March 5, 1934 — March 12, 2023

Janet passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 89 years.

She is survived by her three children Bobby (Debra) McEwan, Jan (Ian) Duncan, and Gary (Joan) McEwan; grandchildren Steven Duncan, Jordan McEwan, and Benson McEwan; sister Betty Bennett, and her children Jean and Alexander (Eileen); and her great-nieces and nephews Kellie (Brian), Paul (Mel), and their children Katie, Lewis, Melissa, Gemma and Luisa.  She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Jean.

Janet grew up in Bargeddie, Scotland, where she lived with her parents and older sister. Every Friday they would all go to the pictures, which she always enjoyed very much. Janet married and moved to Glasgow, where she worked as a seamstress in the Philcote Factory, and for a time ran a family owned newsagent. Janet immigrated to Canada in 2005 making her home in Kelowna, BC.  She was a member of the Kelowna Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Janet loved line dancing and also took up yoga at the age of 85.  She was an active and keen gran, and shared her seamstress skills with all her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Child Advocacy Center.

A Memorial Service will be held on FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 2023, at 10:00 AM (PDT), at MOUNTAINVIEW CHURCH, 271 Snowsell Street N, Kelowna, BC.  Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.  If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service.  The Livestream link will be posted here when it is made available.
