We Remember
NELSON, Allen Wesley
August 24, 1955 — May 14, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Nelson on May 14, 2024, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 68. Born on August 24, 1955, in Rutland, BC, Allen was a lifelong resident and a proud Rutland boy.
Allen is survived by his sisters, Dorothy and Fern, his brother, Carl, and numerous extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Raymond, as well as his siblings, June, Bernie, and Sharon.
As the fifth of seven children, Allen cherished his roots and the outdoors, enjoying camping, hunting, fishing, and especially golfing. He was known for his love of Friday night beers and his remarkable positivity, which greatly supported him through his cancer treatments. Allen dedicated over 30 years to Crown Zellerbach, bringing joy to those around him with his humour, sayings, and mannerisms. He was a bright and well-read individual, with a deep love for history.
Allen did not wish for a formal service. Instead, we invite you to remember him in your own way. He was beloved in life and will be fondly remembered in death.

My sympathies to the family. Allen was my brother in law for a time but I also considered him my brother. RIP Allen, I hope you have found peace at last ❤️❤️❤️
Our condolences to Carl, Dorothy, Fern, and the rest of the Nelson family. Al started golfing in our Saturday golf group of 16 guys about 10 years ago. Right from the get go he fit in like a glove. If anyone wanted to get an extra game in during the week, Al was the first to commit. He was always easy going and a joy to play with. He even won one of our group’s “majors,” including our trophy and a green jacket which he wore EVERYWHERE. He was so proud of himself. Al had a love of sports and music. In music his choice was Hard Metal, but we never held that against him. A true friend that we will miss.
