We Remember

ROBBINS, Alan Thomas

August 7, 1941 — July 11, 2024

Surrounded by family, Alan Thomas Robbins passed away July 11, 2024 at the age of 82 in Kelowna, B.C.

Survived by his wife Julie; son Russ (Jeanette); daughter Michelle (Chris); grandkids Bryan, Nic, Cody, Nicolas, Noelle; great-grandchild Kyrnin; and sister Eleanor.

Alan was born August 7, 1941 in Vancouver, B.C. to parents Frank and Janette. He was raised to be a hardworking and honest person, just like his dad. Alan eventually fell in love with Julie, and for 58 years they lived their version of their best life. His hard work and passion with Canada Safeway for 39 years led him to the fruits of his labour — as Alan and Julie travelled to their hearts content. From cruising to Cuba, flights to Hawaii, or just RVing to warmer places, many memories were made.

As Alan grew older, and at a slower pace, he turned his passion to the Toronto Blue Jays. A sad day for Alan was when its season was over. How he loved his Blue Jays.

Alan was predeceased by many before him, who now will form one heck of a ball team on the field of dreams.

In keeping with Alan’s wishes, there will be no formal service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation (Cardiac Care in honour of Alan Robbins).

  • Steve & Patti says:

Russ, so sorry to hear about your dad. Pam & myself worked for your dad at Safeway. Funniest thing was when he got us mixed up being a twin. Called Pam to the office because she called in sick & he thought it was her at the hockey game the night before. But it was myself Patti! Love to your mom too!
