We Remember
SAMIS, Linda Keran
January 16, 1951 — May 1, 2025
Linda Samis lived a full life. She was born Linda Keran Jorsvick at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC. She passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 74 in Kelowna, BC.
Linda attended Notre Dame Regional High school in Vancouver. She spoke often about the importance of her experience at this Catholic school. Later, Linda worked in Vancouver, Montréal (during the FLQ crisis) and Calgary. Linda had an eye for real estate, and together with her former husband, owned and sold many homes in the province. A true entrepreneur, she started numerous businesses, including Decorating Den and Canaqua. The latter business was exciting, and she travelled to Hong Kong, Istanbul, Dubai, and London. She is author of “Brass Ovaries: Grow a Pair” in which the reader is encouraged to see that we all have choices and consequences available to us. She was a proud mom of two children and dedicated to her canine friends Nikki, Buzz, Sydney, Sophie, and Oliver. She spent many years in Steveston village and loved to walk along the boardwalk daily. Later in life, she settled in Kelowna, where she made the best of her situation and always praised the good work of the physicians and nurses at KGH.
Predeceased by her parents Douglas and Adele Jorsvick, she will be missed very much by her daughter Taylor Samis and son Jordan Samis; her grandchildren Paige, Audrey, Logan, and Lily; her brother Scott; and her dearest friends Joan Brandt and Lynn Grisack.
We will be holding a small, private ceremony where her ashes will be planted with a white willow tree. We encourage friends and family to remember her bright spirit and “joie de vivre” that she brought to our world.

I met Linda 5 years ago, we had many good conversations. Linda was always joyful and uplifting, she was interesting to talk with, we shared many stories and good laughs. She will be missed by many who knew her.
Rest in peace Linda. Condolences to her family.
Linda and I met through Decorating Den about 35 years ago. We travelled to Maryland, USA in a group of new Decorating students for our training for the company. It was easy to be drawn to her as she was so full of life and very quick witted. We both didn’t stay with DD for very many years and unfortunately lost touch for quite a number of years after that. But we did reconnect about 15 years ago and have been friends since. We travelled to London together to promote Canaqua and I always tried to encourage her in all her endeavors. We had frequent lively and spirited conversations while she was living in Kelowna. I was always amazed by her spirit and positive attitude. There were many things that we didn’t agree on, but always managed to agree to disagree. One thing we did agree on was our love of our children and grandchildren. Linda was in awe of her kids and absolutely loved and adored her grandchildren. We all lost some sparkle when we lost her. My most heartfelt condolences to Taylor and Jordan and families.
