We Remember
WICKSTROM, Myrna Carol
November 16, 1946 — March 13, 2014
Myrna passed away with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Her mother, father, one brother and daughter, Lesley, predeceased her. Myrna is survived by her loving husband John, of 43 years; daughters Lorna (Ron), Terry (Scott); son Derrick, along with her brother Mel of Edmonton. Myrna also leaves behind her precious granddaughters Morgan, Mackenzie, Kennedy, Cheyenne and Gabrielle.
Myrna was born and raised in Edmonton and moved to Kelowna in 1986. During her time here, she volunteered for over 15 years at Cottonwoods Extended Care facility. She enjoyed raising and watching her family grow over her life. Myrna especially loved working in her yard with the grandchildren at her side as they were growing up. These were some of her fondest memories. In the later years of her life, she found joy in working and meeting new friends and acquaintances through her work. She would lend a hand to anyone in need and always had time to listen. One of her favourite pastimes was playing 5 cent keno with her daughters at the local casino.
Myrna specifically requested that there be no service or public memorial on her passing. A private family gathering will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made on her behalf to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association – Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2Z6. The family would like to thank all who helped with Myrna’s care and specifically the wonderful staff at the Hospice facility. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Dear John & Family. I will always remember Myrna as a kind generous hostess who welcomed everyone to her home with a smile and an offering of food and drink. Those afternoon get together gatherings by the pool were great fun. These last months must have been heartbreaking for all of you, to see this vital, happy, outspoken personal slip away from you. Experience has shown me that time is the only cure for this heartbreak. Please remember “LIFE” is a collection of memories, both happy and sad. Keep them all of your Myrna.
Love to all the family
