We Remember

BUCKLEY, Jane

September 18, 1927 — November 25, 2021

On Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the age of 94 years, Jane Carmel Buckley passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Jane was born on September 18, 1927, as one of seven sisters who grew up along the canal in Dublin, Ireland. Her father, Laurence Condron, was the canal lock keeper. Her mother, Jane (née Morgan), was a homemaker, busy raising her seven girls.

In 1955, Jane followed her husband John “Séan”  to Canada, with their two young sons, George and John. Their daughters, Deirdre and Maeve, came along shortly afterwards. All four of Jane’s children held a special place in their lives for their truly wonderful mother.

Jane had a special way of endearing herself to everyone, known for her sparkly eyes, lovely smile, and ready sense of humour. In her later years, she endured several serious health challenges, and always showed sincere gratitude towards those who cared for her.

Jane’s legacy was her loving family. Adored by her children, memories of Jane will also be cherished by her daughters-in-law, Georgina Legare and Noreen Buckley, and sons-in-law, Cliff Penner and Rick Adrian; former son-in-law Jake Voykin; as well as, her grandchildren, Jim (Maureen) Buckley, Sean (Paulette) Buckley, Shane Buckley, Jamie-Lee Cormier (Brad), Liam Voykin and Jack Voykin; and her great-grandchildren, Kieran, Katelyn, Corbin, Teagan, Nathan and Noah.

Jane owed her long life to her amazing strong spirit, her deep love for her family, and the special care she received from her longtime doctor and Irish friend, Dr. William Mackle.

Jane will remain close in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

There will be a private family Celebration of Life in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Red Cross in Jane’s memory.

I have many fond memories of Jane…our shared love of her adorable poodle Lambert (Lambie to us). Times spent in her home on Lambert – she and I making tea and chatting away. She was so easy to be with and so easy to love. She will be missed.
