We Remember

JOHNSON, Stewart

Stewart passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the age of 62.  He is survived by his daughters Erin Martin, Sarah Johnson and Michelle Johnson; sisters Charlene (Larry) Scott, Heather (Roger) Gabel and Janet (Dana) Kaplanchuk; lifelong best friend and “brother” Peter Ibsen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Carl and Ivy Johnson.

Born and raised in Kamloops, Stewart accomplished many things in both his personal and his business life and had many friends and colleagues. He had a passion for Body Building, and in the 1980s achieved 1st place at the BC Body Building championships, owning the title “Mr. BC” along with many other awards.

Stewart had a love for hockey, ice skating, skiing and scuba diving, as well as photography: he loved taking pictures at our many family functions. To provide for his family, he worked on the CN Railroad in Kamloops in the 80s, as well as selling Real Estate and driving taxi cabs, eventually owning a taxi business in Kelowna.

He was a mechanic and loved rebuilding classic cars – even a speed boat, which he enjoyed taking on the water. He will be remembered for his love of life and his love for friends and family, his big laugh and gentle nature.

He will be greatly missed by all and always remain in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Stewart. We Love You.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Stewart’s name may be made to Brain Trust Canada, www.braintrustcanada.com or the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ca.

Stewart, I can’t believe you’re gone, and my heart is shattered. You weren’t just my friend—you were my big brother, and hearing you call me your little brother meant the world to me. The bond we shared was something I’ll carry with me forever. Your kindness, wisdom, and incredible wit brought light to every moment, and I’ll miss that sharp sense of humor that could always make me laugh, no matter what.
Thank you for being such an important part of my life. I’ll never forget the memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the way you always looked out for me. You’ll always be in my heart, big brother. Prayers always 🙂
