We Remember

MASSEY, Jeannine

Jeannine, beloved wife of Robert (Bobby) Massey, passed away on March 22, 2019 in Kelowna, BC. She is also survived by her daughter, Julie, son-in-law Ross and two grandsons, Dereck and Jared. Also, her loving and dear sister Lorraine, and nieces and nephews close to her – Sharon, Donna, Linda, Denise, Carolyn and Michel.  She is also survived by many more nieces and nephews whom she would have loved to know more but circumstances meant they were far away – her brother Darrell’s children and her sister Denise’s two boys.  She was predeceased by her parents, Bertha and Romeo Blais, sister Denise, and brothers Darrell and Maurice. She is now with all of them and her beloved Uncle Eddy in heaven.

We are very sad to see Jeannine/Mom/Nana pass and will miss her so much. She was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1931 during the great depression and had many struggles in her early life. Thankfully, her sister Lorraine introduced her to Bobby in their young adult years and they married and were together for many beautiful years.  He was truly her savior. Together they enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards, and bringing up their daughter Julie in Nassau, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario. Many wonderful summers were spent at Lac Rond “the cottage”. Jeannine’s last segment of life was spent in British Columbia to be close to her daughter and grandsons whom she loved so much.  Many BC summers were spent at “the cottage” in Shuswap. She will always be remembered for writing letters/emails, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary and for providing strength in tough times.

A small intimate ceremony will be held with interment at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, Legacy Gardens on Saturday, March 30th.  Flowers may be sent to the family at 360 Long Ridge Drive, Kelowna, BC, V1V 2R9 or in lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC. Condolences

  • Denise Goodall says:

I was the Goddaughter of my Auntie Jeannine, who was very Dear to my Heart. I remember visiting her home as a child with my Mom and Dad when we use to go to our cottage. We use to walk down the country road to the lake for a swim and a picnic. I have very strong memories of her home and being enchanted by it’s magic and quality. As a young adult in St. Lambert, I cherished her Sunday visits where we would have Tea & Sandwiches and share great stories.
I admired her Strength of Character and her BEAUTIFUL sparkling blue eyes. She also had a way of seeing to the core of you and knowing what your were made of. She was a genuine Soul who I greatly respected.
I think of her and my Mom together. We use to visit and have nice swims in her pool, I remember her Lime Green kitchen in St. Lambert which made such an impression on me. So untraditional, something brought back, I believe, from her Nassau lifestyle.
Lots of great memories, so many, like again my early childhood experience going to Grandpa & Grandma Blais’ home where the family would sit around the beautiful dining room table. As a kid my cousins & myself would find refuge underneath the massive oak table or hide in the closet. Grandpa at the Head of the Table or sitting in his huge chair and Grandma always attending in the kitchen. Such deep cherished memories.
All my Heartfelt Prayers go out to her devoted husband, my Uncle Bob and her Beautiful daughter Julie and her Family.
