We Remember

OBIORA, Ellen

Ellen passed away on August 19, 2017 at the age of 90. She is survived by her daughter Ellen Hines and son-in-law Bradford Hines of Tsawwassen, BC; step daughter Dawne Hannon-Perry and her husband Howard Perry of Qualicum Beach, BC; sister Barbara Plumb of Kelowna, BC ad many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her Leon Obiora (1977) and Edward Hannon (2011).

Ellen was born in Poland, and moved to Jasper, AB in 1949, where she resided until 1984. She then retired to Kelowna, BC.

She was married to Leon Obiora in Poland in 1947. He predeceased her in 1977.

She married Edward Hanon in 1983 and they had many happy years together until his passing in 2011. Ellen passed peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna with Father Bart Van Roijen officiating. Interment to follow in Jasper, Alberta.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, 565 – 10th Ave W, Vancouver, BC V5Z 9Z9  www.cancer.ca.
