We Remember

ORBANSKI, Roy

June 9, 1927 — November 2, 2016

Roy Orbanski, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning at The Village at Smith Creek, with his beloved wife Eunice by his side. They had the blessing of sharing 70 years of marriage together.

He also leaves his living daughters, Diane (Dale), Connie (Wayne), Jeannette (Wayland), Lynne (Don), adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many devoted friends. Roy is predeceased by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Roy was born to Joseph and Nettie Orbanski on June 9th, 1927 in Arnes, Manitoba, where he lived his formative years. He met his wife, then Eunice Dorosh, at a dance in Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba, and they were soon married in 1946. They lived in Port Arthur, Ontario for the earlier part of their marriage and then settled in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Roy built a thriving construction company, contributing greatly to the area’s vast development. Roy retired to Kelowna, British Columbia, where he lived an active life; he loved to fish, snowmobile, motorcycle, bowling, boating and spend time with family. He lived a life devoted to his faith, serving as an usher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for over 30 years.

Roy dedicated his life to his family. He was infinitely generous with his love and compassion, and never failed to provide support in times of need. Roy’s kind-hearted presence and love for life touched and inspired many.

They say angels walk among us; to those who were blessed to know him, Roy was a true angel on earth. He is now watching over us from Heaven. We miss you and love you.

Please join the family in honouring the life of this incredible man. Prayers are being held on Sunday, November 6 at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue in Kelowna, British Columbia. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 7 at 1:30PM, followed by a luncheon also at Immaculate Conception Church.

The family respectfully requests a memorial donation in lieu of flowers to The Village of Smith Creek (Paynter Community), 2425 Orlin Road, West Kelowna. We wish to thank the staff at Smith Creek for the heartfelt care extended to Roy during his stay there.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
