We Remember

WEBB, Rebecca Ann

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, Rebecca Ann Webb passed away at the Central Okanagan Hospice House.  Though heartbroken, her beloved daughter Kate, her mother Freda and sisters Nancy (Bob) and Debora (Terry) celebrate the love and joy Rebecca brought to their lives. She was predeceased by her father, Bert Webb, in 2013.

Rebecca is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as extended family Lynn and Doug, Teddy, Wendy and Meg. Also mourning her loss is a wide circle of caring and compassionate friends whose support over the years has been unwavering.

Rebecca graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and during her twenty-seven year career as an elementary teacher, she touched the lives of countless children and families.  She loved her work and was dedicated to her students.

Rebecca faced the challenges of her illness with determination, strength, bravery and humour.  She was an inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Purdon, the staff at Lakeside Pharmacy and the caring teams at Palliative Care and Hospice House.  Special thanks as well to Drs. Mirchandi and Bachland, “the chemo girls” and “chemo buddy” Terry.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC. I’m not sure how

I’m not sure how far back our friendship goes but all my Glenmore Elementary memories include Rebecca (Becky as we grew up calling her) and I’m sure we were in most of the same classes during those early years. I can not recall Rebecca ever saying a mean thing about anyone and she was such a true friend. One of the Glenmore gang of kids. We continued together through high school but moved through different circles of friends. Imagine my surprise when my now 24 year old son came home to say that his primary teacher at Casorso (a new school to our family that year) was Ms Webb…….and she really loves pigs!! We had a great time catching up and reminiscing about the “old days”. She had an amazing gift of teaching our son, something that other teachers struggled with due to his learning differences. She was a rock star!
Our hearts go out to all of Rebecca’s family and friends and may you find comfort in each other and in the memories that you hold dear, She was one of a kind and I know that she touched many, many people during her time here on this earth.
