We Remember

FOSTER, Lawrence (Larry) Victor

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Larry was a gentle man with a keen sense of humor who loved family above all else. He passed away peacefully on July 11, 2014 in Kelowna, BC.

Lost without him are his wife and love for 53 years Marilyn, his cherished daughters Jodie (Paul) in Kelowna and Megan (Mark) in Nigeria, as well as his treasured grandson Isaac. He also leaves behind a large extended family of Fosters, Joneses and Irish relatives including many beloved nieces and nephews.

Larry was born in High River, Alberta and was raised in Banff where nature became part of his spirit as he lived among the mountains.

He graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Landscape Architecture and followed with a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of British Columbia.

He chose his life’s work with the belief that he could help make the community we live a better place. He spent several years developing a community park system for the Vancouver Parks Board. The next 20 plus years were at the City of Kelowna as a long range urban planner. He had a particular fondness for heritage planning, serving for many years on local and provincial heritage committees.

To hike a mountain or seaside trail or to travel to a new country and culture were his passions, best shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed skiing, boating and gardening.

As we say goodbye, we wish Larry peace and love on the next steps of his journey.

A celebration of Larry’s life is planned for 1:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Springfield Funeral Home (2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna).
