  • Dana McCallum says:

    To the Mazur family,
My name is Dana McCallum, I had the privilege of working for Jerry at Eternal many moons ago. A couple years after my marriage, my wife and I moved our family to Saskatchewan, from the Okanagan. We have been here for 13-14 years now, and now have decided to move back. Today I went searching how I could contact Jerry. It had been six years since I had seen Jerry. We had come out to visit family, and I had somehow gotten a hold of him, and we had a nice long coffee and a catch up. Evidently, with our impending move, I was excited to catch up again. Yet, when I went searching on Google how I might get a hold of him, all I found was his obituary. My heart sank, and tears filled my eyes. This man had such a huge impact on my life as a youth. At the age of 16, my parents had divorced, and my mom had moved me and my sisters to the Okanagan from the coast. When I had went searching for a job, I had found in the phone book that there was a skateboard manufacture in Westbank, Just Manufacturing. So I called for a job. Jerry answered and told me they didn’t have one. I ended up calling back each week for over a month, until they hired me. I think out just to shut me up…. I worked there with Jerry and the crew, and from that relationship, I eventually gave my life to the Lord. After I had gotten married, I had gone to Jerry’s house to talk with him about what was next in my life. I had asked him if he was to do it all over again, what trade he would do. He said an electrician. Which is why I pursued electrical and eventually got my ticket. As I sit here typing out this message, I still cannot believe he is gone. As I watched the funeral, so many pictures and people brought backs many memories. From the many many many late night hours spent painting at Just, the donut runs, the driving through the rain puddles in his Land-cruiser at Green Bay and getting soaked, hearing his laugh come from the office as he watched some funny video someone had sent him. To his constant desire to mess with the employees, from holding the bathroom door shut and turning on the hose and putting it under the door, to his contacts always falling out or getting full of dust. The skate trips, the “break-a-thon’s” with all the defective boards, the memories are endless. My friend, my brother in Christ, you have impacted my life in more ways than I can ever comprehend, you will forever be missed. Till we meet again at Jesus feet.
