A loving mother, adoring Nanie, wonderful sister and friend, Andrea passed away into her next great adventure on May 23, 2020.
Always an advocate of self-expression, Andrea’s artistic talents developed over many decades and spanned many mediums, from oil and canvas to bead work and jewelry to silk flowers. Much of her art was gifted to those with an appreciation of her craft.
An artist at heart, Andrea always appreciated the passion that went into creating and was a great supporter of local artisans and crafters. She loved unique and beautiful things made by the hands of others and proudly displayed them around her home.
Andrea had a heart for people and pursued a career in nursing. Eventually shifting gears, she became a nursing instructor at Douglas College. She loved teaching and took great pride in inspiring the next generation of nurses, many of whom got in touch years later to share how she had impacted their lives and career. Andrea loved learning as much as teaching. She enjoyed thought provoking conversation and connecting with people on a deeper level.
After retiring from teaching, Andrea pursued another passion: travel. She loved being immersed in culture, meeting new people and discovering the art and traditions that make us all unique. She was blessed with some wonderful travel companions over the years, with whom she shared her great adventures. One of her favourite travel memories to relive and share was driving through the Nevada desert in a convertible, wind in her hair, sun on her face, heart free and happy!
The last few years, dealing with illness, Andrea’s circle became quite small. She lived for visits from dear friends, companions and her family. We wish to express gratitude to all those who came to brighten her days, pray by her side, bring joy to her life through food, stories and laughter. We are also so grateful for the care and compassion she received from the staff at David Lloyd Jones.
Andrea will be remembered with love and a smile, and she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

I loved coming to work and seeing this amazing woman. We enjoyed our movie watchinh with popcorn and apple fritters and cofee from tim hortons. I will miss her so much…she will be in my heart forever. My condolences and thoughts to her family.
Andrea was a beautiful soul and a bright light and finally she was so tired. As sorry as I am to know of her passing, I am grateful to know she has found peace finally and rest. I’ll always remember and treasure the time spent with Andrea, and our shared enjoyment and laughter over Keeping Up Appearances snippets and other shared moments of fun and confidences. She taught nursing practice to those privileged to care for her, ever aware of the impact nurses have on those who cannot advocate for themselves. I’ll never forget her.
