GRAY, Ian

June 23, 1949 – May 15, 2021
On May 15, 2021, with his brother at his side, Ian Gray, slipped away from us peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Halifax, NS, Ian moved to Toronto, ON when he was only 5 years old. As a young man, 25 years old, he moved to British Columbia and made this province his home, Vancouver, Penticton (back to Vancouver), and then finally he retired from being a Bank Manager and lived his retirement years in Kelowna. Ian was well-loved and will be missed.
Ian leaves behind his brothers Paul and David (Diane), and his numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly, Ian was preceded in death by his wife Patti, his sister-in-law Dianne, and his niece Kelly.

To the family of Ian, I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Ian from his time at Kelowna Springs Golf Club. He would often come for lunch and a beer after his game of golf with the boys. He was always full of wit and humor and was a pleasure to serve. Even after he stopped golfing he still still came to meet the boys for lunch and we would banter with each other, before they arrived. He was a funny caring man that always saw the positive in life. We had the pleasure of getting to know Ian since we became neighbours August 2019. It was always enjoyable to chat over the fence and get to know Ian.
We will miss Ian and his buddy Maverick will miss him the most. Your buddy Maverick may learn to catch his treats some day but I think that was his way of getting your to throw more! RIP good neighbour. The Schultz Family.
I had the pleasure of knowing Ian during his time living in the Sunset Ranch community. Always a gentleman and fun-loving. Ian will be sorely missed by his family and friends. RIP my good friend, Al Keating
We are feeling the loss of a great friend! It was through Patti and my connection with Air Canada that Roy and I got to know and love Ian. He was a real gentleman! We miss you!

My great friend and golfing buddy has left our foursome ad moved on to play with former playing partners in the great beyond. I will miss our comradery, fun times and the many laughs and discussions we had together. Elaine and I will remember al he good times we had with Ian and Patti and our dinners at L’Isola Bella Bistro in Lake Country. Ian has rejoined the love of his life Patti. I had the pleasure of coming to know Ian over the years. He was funny, caring and snarky in the best way. Always making me laugh. He became more like a friend than a client and we always had great conversations as we came and went. Ian was a good man and one of those singular sort of people who make the world a little more drab for their absence. Ian Grey was my funny , loving ,crazy protective Uncle who we all called Uncle Buck or UB for short. I would text or call or email and at the end of every conversation would say your favourite niece Cori ❤️ So when he would reply back it would say my favourite niece Cori but don’t tell Nic Lauren or Miranda 😂 that was the big joke oh I’m going to miss that.
I know he’s happy again back in the love of his life’s arms. His Patti as he called her 🥰

My heartfelt condolences to Ian’s family, I was very saddened to hear that Ian had passed. I worked with Ian for a number of years at TD where he was my boss at two different occasions. He was a great boss and an even better person and friend! He had great humour and we would always make friendly bets when Finland (my team) and Canada played each other in hockey. He would even email me long after we parted ways when he left TD, when there was a game between our teams. RIP my dear friend.

So sad to read of Ian’s passing and now know why telephone messages and emails remained unanswered. We talked every few months after Patti’s passing and always enjoyed catching up. I was so saddened to hear of Ian’s passing. We worked together at TD, Granville and Pender, 700 West Georgia, in Vancouver and again for several years in New Westminster in Credit Administration. Since I moved to Calgary in 2002 we have stayed in touch, having long conversations via email several times a year. Ian was a great boss, and a greater friend. He will be sorely missed by many for his friendship and great wit. RIP Ian, I know he’ll be happy being reunited with the love of his life, his dear Patti
So sorry to hear of Ian’s passing. We were best friends all through our high school days at Bayview with many unforgettable experiences and then to university and reuniting once again in Vancouver. Sadly we grew apart however the fond memories remain. Sincere condolences to Paul and David.
Hi Steve, you must have been as surprised as I; learning about Ian’s passing. I too have fond memories of those high school years. The “go west young man” culture had us following you out to BC back in the early ’70s. Paul, David, I haven’t seen you since the 12th of May 1972. I am sorry you have lost your brother.
