We Remember

TREEN, Olga

1919 – 2021

Olga Treen passed away peacefully at the Kelowna Hospice House on September, 6, 2021, in her 102 year. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald, in 2006 and is survived by her children Alan (Linda), Bryan (Connie), and Vivian (Edward). She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Susan (Hiep), David, Mary (B.J.), Nigel (Casey) and Nicole. Olga will also be missed by her greatgrandchildren Phoebe and Amelia, her niece Mary, and her nephews, greatnephew and greatgreatnephew in England.

Olga was born in Consett, England and worked in a job essential to the war effort. After falling in love with a young Canadian soldier who was stationed nearby, she briefly lived in London while Gerry finished his advanced education. After Gerry returned to Canada, Olga travelled on her own with twin baby boys to Vancouver, BC to meet him, and eventually settled in Edmonton, AB. She became a lifelong member of the Anglican Women’s Auxiliary and served on the Edmonton Anglican Diocese. For the last 10 years of her life, she moved to Kelowna, BC where she always felt as though she was on vacation.

Wife, mother grandmother, sister, aunt, business-woman, mentor, confidant, dancer, golfer, card player, and friend. Nothing ever was more important to Olga than her family. She attributed her longevity to a lifetime of love she enjoyed from her family and friends. Olga was known for her kindness and caring, along with her enjoyment of life. She lived her life as an example to all who knew and loved her. We were each touched by her presence, and we are better because of that.

At this time there will be no service due to Covid restrictions, with plans for a celebration of life hopefully in the near future.
