We Remember

GRILLS, Alexandra “Sandra”

September 18, 1947 — February 24, 2024

On February 24, 2024, Sandra Grills went to be with the Lord at the age of 76 years. She is survived by Bill, her husband of 53 years; sons Bradley, Kevin (Jennifer), and Jason (Ashley); grandchildren Lukas, Zoey, Riley, and Waylon; two brothers and three sisters.

She was a person who emanated happiness and who loved to share her joy with others.  She never wanted to retire!  She was a dedicated employee of the Kelowna Home Depot for over 20 years. Sandra volunteered for over 30 years with Special Olympics and everyone knew that it was a cause near to her heart. She had the best smile and never complained even when life was not too kind to her and her health declined in her 70s.

Ultimately, Sandra loved her family, and she adored being a grandmother.  Her strength and love live on in the hearts of those she touched and her soul rests easy now in the arms of her saviour.

A Mass of Christian Burial with Father Gerald Sekanga presiding will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 10:30 AM (PST) at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC. Dear Uncle Bill, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time and for the days ahead.

  • Donna says:

I spent several summers with Auntie Sandra & Uncle Bill. The summer I turned 9, she held a little birthday party for me with a home made cake! She didn’t have to celebrate my birthday but thats just who she was – always going the extra mile for the ones she loved. She dotted on the boys back then & later on the grandkids. She taught me how to make play dough from scratch & the hummingbird feeders were always full when they lived in Surrey. Losing Auntie Sandra is like losing a bonus parent you expect to always just be “there”. RIP Auntie Sandra. Give Grandma & Grandpa Dayman an extra big hug from all of us. We’ll forever miss your kindness, generosity & warm smile.

  • Debbie and Dave Pearson says:

Dear Uncle Bill, Bradley, Kevin, Jason and families – We are so sad to hear of Sandy’s passing. We didn’t get to see you guys very often. When we did I remember Sandy’s gentle humour and her warmth as we chatted together about our kids, since you were all around the same age. She was always so proud of you and loved you so much. I remember her joking about you too, Uncle Bill. But it was easy to tell even when she was chuckling about things you did, that she adored you. I hope your memories of her, and the love you have for each other will help to ease your sadness in the days ahead. Big hugs to all of you. Debbie and Dave
