We Remember

TURNER, Janice Patricia (née Jones)

October 25, 1942 — March 12, 2025

Janice Patricia Turner passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2025, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 82.

We believe the world will be a little less bright without her love, laughter, and wisdom to guide us, but our memories will last forever.

Janice was born October 25, 1942, and was one of nine children of Russell and Wanda Jones. She married and raised her children in Rossland, BC, and enjoyed a full life. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Janice had a sweet and caring nature, always ready with a kind word or a witty remark that could brighten any day. Her sense of humour and love of life made her truly special.

Throughout her life, Janice had an interesting and accomplished career. She began as a Legal Secretary at Cominco (now Teck). She later became the Manager of the Trail, BC, Chamber of Commerce. Her career path also led her into Advertising Sales at CJAT Radio and AM Ford. Her entrepreneurial drive eventually led her to embark on a business venture with her daughter, Tera, as they opened Tera Lea’s Fashions and Sears Outlet in Rossland, BC. She took great pride in running the boutique and bringing joy and style to the community. Janice was also an active member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gib Turner of 64 years and her children, Rhonda (Nancy), Tera (David), Greg (Jennifer). She was a proud grandmother to Bria, Halle, Max, Jaxon, Aja and Jayda, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her siblings Joanne, Tom, Bob, Judy, and Russell; and many nieces and nephews.

Janice found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved skiing, golfing, curling, camping, baking, and playing cards and dice with family and friends. Janice created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Join us on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 1:00pm, located at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rossland and a Celebration of Life to follow.
