We Remember
            LAROCQUE, Marlene
September 13, 1947 — July 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Marlene Larocque, who passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 77.
Marlene leaves behind her son Dion and daughter-in-law Aletheia; grandchildren Alyssa, Devon, and Olivia; sister Rachelle MacNeil; and many other loving family members who will miss her dearly.
Marlene was tenacious and strong-willed, the kind of person who made an impression wherever she went. She had a tough exterior, but those who spent time with her quickly saw the warmth and care beneath it. For 35 years, she opened her home as a foster parent, offering stability and love to children in need. She loved to bake and was especially known for her skill and joy in the kitchen. Crocheting was another passion, and something she took pride in.
When she moved to Kelowna in 2022, Marlene became part of the community at Heritage Retirement, where she made many friends. She joined the crochet club and sold her pieces to raise money for the local fire department. Her kindness, generosity, and quiet determination left a mark on those around her.
Marlene was a wonderful person who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Life in her honour will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.

When I was seven years old, in the middle of the 1990s, I was a frightened child who had no idea what to anticipate when I first entered Marlene’s house. However, what I discovered in her house was something that would alter my life: security, coziness, and a love that demanded nothing in return. Marlene nurtured me, not just took me in. She played a part in moulding me into the person I am now. She showed me what it means to be strong, kind, and to love without conditions through her quiet strength, constant patience, and unflinching faith in me.
Her decision altered lives, even though she didn’t have to do what she did for me and countless others. Although I know her influence endures in me and in everyone who had the honour of calling her “Mom,” whether by birth or bond, losing her is a profoundly painful experience. I find solace in the fact that her legacy endures in all those she impacted, not just in myself. I appreciate you being my family, my refuge, and my beacon of light, Marlene. I shall always carry your lessons and your love with me. Rest in peace. I shall always have you at my side.
Love Always,
Sean
