We Remember

LOW, Stephen Hugh
November 24, 1968 — August 14, 2025
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Stephen Hugh Low, who passed away surrounded by family at Kelowna General Hospital, on August 14, 2025, at the age of 56.
Steve leaves behind a wealth of love, including his partner of 12 years, Carolyn Callaghan; children Colton, Cameron, Dean, Anna, Melissa, and Michael; parents John and Margaret Low; brother Michael; sister Sandra; nieces Keira and Sabina; and many loving Callaghan nieces and nephews.
Steve was born in Vancouver, BC, on November 24, 1968, and grew up as one of three children. From an early age he was full of energy, always active and deeply involved in sports, a love that carried through his life. That same determination and drive led him to a long and successful career as a commercial transport mechanic, a trade he worked in for more than 25 years. Known for always tinkering and figuring things out, Steve became the man everyone turned to for the “how to.” He loved passing on his knowledge, and he did so with patience, kindness, and a good sense of humour.
Above all else, Steve was a family man. After the passing of his wife, Karen, he devoted himself fully to raising his two sons, Colton and Cameron. He was endlessly proud of them, and being their father was his greatest joy. Though principled and guided by a strong moral compass, he was also a big softy, loving, protective, and happiest when surrounded by family, children, and those he held dear. For the past 12 years, he shared his life with his partner, Carolyn, and the two were inseparable, often found holding hands wherever they went. He loved his dogs, Missy and Gus, enjoyed camping trips, and was a loyal fan of the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Blue Jays.
Steve’s warmth, steady presence, and the love he gave so freely will be missed beyond words.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Pediatric Ward at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.
