We Remember
HAWORTH, Doreen
January 21, 1932 — September 3, 2025
With heartfelt love and deep appreciation, we share the passing of Doreen Haworth on September 3, 2025, at the age of 93. She leaves behind a devoted family: daughters Tara and Heather; granddaughter Melanie (Kevin); and great-grandchildren Terence, Isaak, and Eva. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Douglas; her parents, Ira and Connie; her sister, Belva Swainston; and her brother, Ward Graves.
Born in Saskatoon, SK and raised in Kelowna, BC, Doreen embodied grace, warmth, and timeless style. As a young woman, she was crowned Lady of the Lake and proudly presented trophies at the Kelowna Regatta—early signs of the poise and charm that would define her life. She later brought her keen eye for beauty and design to Haworth’s Jewelry, the family business, where her flair for fashion and elegance shone brightly.
Doreen was known for her impeccable taste—whether in her wardrobe, her home décor, or the artful way she wrapped gifts. Her home was a haven of laughter, love, and delicious meals, especially during her cherished Sunday family dinners. For Doreen, family was everything, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. Her favourite song, What a Wonderful World, perfectly captured her joyful and appreciative spirit.
Together, Doug and Doreen Haworth were pillars of Kelowna’s history. As part of one of the city’s oldest families, they worked side by side at James Haworth and Son, a business founded by James and Lillian Haworth in 1932. Despite demanding work schedules and raising a family, they remained deeply committed to their community—giving generously of their time through the Kinsmen and Kinettes, Shriners, Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Rotary Club.
In accordance with Doreen’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Those who wish to honour her memory may consider a donation to the Central Okanagan Hospice House.
Doreen will be remembered always for her elegance, her unwavering love for family, and graciousness, humility and big heart.
