We Remember
KOUTSANTONIS, Melitsa (née Kazantzidou)
November 8, 1935 — October 10, 2025
Melitsa Koutsantonis passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born in Kavala, Greece, Melitsa was the youngest of four siblings. In 1961, she immigrated to Canada, to marry her husband, Stavros, and begin a new chapter in Kelowna, British Columbia. Together, they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and community. Over the years, she raised four children and established a beloved local restaurant that would become a cornerstone for many.
Meli was known for her unwavering work ethic, generosity, and hospitality. In addition to raising her family, she played a pivotal role in supporting newly arrived Greek immigrants, offering both guidance and a warm welcome. Her dedication extended to the family business, where she was actively involved for decades, often with children and, later, grandchildren by her side. Her cooking and baking, shaped by tradition and love, became a signature part of the restaurant’s enduring appeal.
Even in her later years, Meli remained deeply engaged in both family life and work, sharing her skills and stories with younger generations. Her summers spent in Greece were filled with meaningful time with family.
She is remembered with love and respect by her children Kosmas (Sia), Maria (Yiannis), Savas (Lori), and Chris (Bobbie-Jo); her grandchildren Kazimira (Kyle), Stavroula (Aaron), Karissa (Kevin), Melitsa (Taki), Mariza (Vyron), Konstantinos, Chantelle (Greg), Ashton (Chantal), Jasmine, and Stavros; and her great-grandchildren Owen, Elliott, Evva, Saleen, Elektra, and Marialena.
Melitsa’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the community she served, and the traditions she so lovingly preserved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Cancer or to the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
