We Remember
FARQUHAR, Dr. Andrew
February 26, 1947 — November 6, 2025
Dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, friend and physician, Dr. Andrew Farquhar has completed the adventure of a life lived to the fullest. He was born in Scotland, where he spent a carefree childhood with his sister Margaret and brothers John and David.
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a young age, Andrew was determined to make the most of every day. He excelled at whatever he turned his hand to, whether as captain of the rugby team at school, winning the class medal at Edinburgh Medical School, or achieving international recognition as a photographer with a cover photo for a National Geographic calendar. His unique perspective of personal experience and clinical expertise in diabetes made him invaluable locally and sought after internationally as an educator and guest speaker. He was remarkably kind and will be best remembered for his genuine nature, sense of humour and his ability to connect with everyone.
His greatest love was his family – his wife Stephanie, with whom he shared over 50 years of adventures together; daughter Jaclyn (Deke) and their daughter Eberly; and daughter Vanessa (Aaron) and their sons Shepherd and Arlo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm (PST). Dear Stephanie and family. We are so sorry to hear of Andrew’s passing. He became our family doctor from shortly after we arrived in Kelowna until his retirement. We were very fortunate to have him as a doctor and a friend. What a lovely and kind person he was. The photo is of him and Vanessa at our house on Christmas Eve 1986.
Again our deepest sympathy. Anneli and Ken French
Stephanie and family, Please accept our deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are so sad to hear of Andrew’s passing. We have lost one of the best! Both Andrew and you, Stephanie were so kind when we first moved to Kelowna. Andrew’s was the first locum Clive did and we all became friends after that. We will miss his wit, his stories and most of all his friendship. Know that we are thinking of you all at this time and pass on our love and gentle thoughts.,

My sincere condolences on the passing of Andrew. I thoroughly enjoyed when he attended our meetings (even though it was not often). He had such a great perspective on life which was so refreshing. He was truly a special man.

Dear Stephanie and family, thank you for live streaming Andrew’s service. I was deeply grateful to hear more about Andrew, I met him in our photography club, and although he was advanced he was comfortable contributing. I have seen Stephanie with Skye on the Greenway and always looked forward to hearing about ‘the girls’, the babies and life.. I was able to hear more about your adventurous life Stephanie in the .stories and personal history shared today. I loved the Polar bear encounter and symbolism which is ‘unfailing stamina to remain undaunted even in the face of obstacles’. Beautiful! The music was very powerful. Thank you! Jan
Farquhar Family,
So sorry to hear of Dr. Farquhar passing, my
condolences to the Family. Dr. Farquhar was my parents and myself family physician, when he took over the practice of are previous Dr. practice when he retired. He remained my family doctor well after the passing of my parents, until his retirement. My parents always said they liked going to see Dr. Farquhar half the time just to hear his Wee Scottish accent. We were so grateful for all the years of kind and compassionate care.
