We Remember
HOULDEN, Emily Irene
December 8, 1929 — December 1, 2025
Emily Irene Houlden came in to this world on a frosty day on December 8, 1929, in Portage La Prairie, MB; just as she passed away peacefully on a similar frosty day 95 years, and a full and rich life, later on December 1, 2025, at Three Links Manor in Kelowna, BC.
The last of her siblings and of the Holden Clan; Emily is survived by her close friend, Jim Luxton, of Kelowna and her niece, Zoe Houlden, of Edmonton, AB.
Emily had a huge heart and lived her life caring for others, a confirmation of this is her chosen profession. She worked as a home care support worker in Kelowna for many years, looking after others who no longer could care fully for themselves. Emily worked up to the age of 65, at which point she retired.
Having an adventurous spirit, Emily loved to travel and see the world. She was also outgoing and enjoyed socializing, especially during her weekly bowling outings – not to mention her skill in both five- and ten-pin bowling. She had a natural feel for the game. Emily remained active and independent for most of her years, only moving into care when dementia began to affect her daily life.
A special thank-you goes to Three Links Manor for the care Emily received while she stayed with you.
Her family and friends will honour her, each in their own way, as Emily requested that no formal service be held. She will be laid to rest alongside her parents in the Hillside Cemetery in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.
