We Remember
EBERLE, Gerald “Gerry” Nickadamus
May 27, 1956 — January 23, 2026
Gerald “Gerry” Nickadamus Eberle passed away in Kelowna on January 23, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 27, 1956, the firstborn for Nick and Marlene Eberle.
Gerry was predeceased by his Dad, Nick. He will be missed forever by his wife, Michelle; son Rylan (Julie); his Mom Marlene; sisters Diana (Daryl) and Denise (Kevin); niece Brandi (Bartt, Ella, Connor); nephew Jordan (Faye, John, Audrey); in-laws Madaline and Morris; aunts, uncles, and many cousins and friends across Canada.
Gerry grew up in Regina in a home on Broder Street that his Dad built. Gerry’s Dad came from the Lajord District and his Mom from Vibank/Qu’Appelle area. We always heard stories about Gerry stopping in after school at his grandparents’ house to play cards, a loud game of Pinochle was the family favourite. Gerry enjoyed so many summers at Waskesiu and the cottage at Spring Bay with family and friends.
In 1974, Gerry graduated from Miller High School, and within six months joined RBC Royal Bank of Canada, where his fulfilling career lasted over 45 years. As a young man, RBC would transfer him to several small towns around Saskatchewan. Gerry made many friends along the way, including Randy, his friend of over 50 years, and Best Man.
Being from Regina, Gerry came by his Rider Pride honestly. He attended as many games as possible, home and away, despite the dangerously freezing temperatures. In 2013, Gerry and Rylan attended the Grey Cup together in Regina. Seeing the Riders win at Taylor Field with his son was the experience of a lifetime. It was another great celebration when the Roughriders brought home the Grey Cup in 2025. Gerry was also a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. As a family, we attended playoff games in Toronto, seeing wins that eventually took the Blue Jays to the 2025 World Series.
In the mid-90’s in Saskatoon, Gerry and Michelle met while serving as volunteers for Persephone Theatre Board of Directors. They built a happy life together, and filled their 30 years with love and adventures around the world. Their son, Rylan, is the best of Gerry and Michelle, and family always came first for him. Gerry found a way to be involved in Rylan’s sports over the years as Team Manager or Treasurer. Gerry was the proudest father to Rylan, and father-in-law to Julie. He was immensely grateful to be part of their wonderful wedding celebration in May 2025.
Gerry and Michelle retired to Kelowna in 2020, where Gerry devoted his time to new friendships and gardening. He fit in happily with the Lane Friends over coffee, parties, and casual get-togethers. His garden thrived in the Okanagan, and he could make any plant grow tall, flower, and bear delicious fruit. Too many darn grapes and tomatoes to know what to do with!
Gerry’s sudden illness and passing has broken our hearts, too fast and too soon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Gerry’s name to a charity of your choice, or to the ones that Gerry supported: Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation or New Vintage Theatre Kelowna.
There will be a memorial service planned in Saskatchewan when the weather is warmer, and friends and family can gather to tell their stories and share memories. Further details to be announced.
