We Remember

MUSHUMANSKI, Henry David

April 26, 1939 — January 23, 2026

It is with immense love and sadness that we announce the loss of Henry David Mushumanski, who peacefully passed away to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on January 23, 2026, at the age of 86.

Left to hold him dear to their hearts are those he loved most, including his wife of 65 years, Jane Mushumanski; children Grant (Lise) Mushumanski, Shelley (Steve) Gubeli, and James Mushumanski; grandchildren David (Jay), Aaron (Paige), Ashley, and Halliday; siblings Alfred (Helena) Mushumanski, Marcy Matheson, Ralph (Maralea) Mushumanski, Elmer (Nadie) Mushumanski, and Willie (Anne) Mushumanski.

He now goes to join his sister, Lorraine Jones, who passed before him.

Henry was born on April 26, 1939, in Silver Creek, Manitoba, the beloved son of Dan J.K. and Bertha Mushumanski and one of seven children. He grew up on the family farm where a lifelong love of the outdoors took root. Hunting with his brothers, tending to vegetable gardens and bright beds of tulips, and later enjoying a round of golf were simple pleasures that brought him real joy. Known for his great sense of humour, Henry never missed a chance for a good joke—especially when paired with a Crown Royal whisky and a warm smile.

Henry shared life with his wife Jane, a partnership filled with laughter, adventure, and deep devotion. Together they cherished many summers at Twin Lake Beach, the family cottage, with family and friends – days spent fishing and water-skiing with the kids and nights spent around beach bonfires or huddled over a game of cards. As the season shifted so did his passions. He spent time cheering from the stands or from his favourite chair watching a Blue Bombers game or the Winnipeg Jets. In retirement, he and Jane chased the sun in Arizona, where Henry happily passed the winter days golfing.

Above all else, he adored his family, especially time with his grandchildren, picking blueberries and cherries, listening to old country music (with “Home” by Dierks Bentley a favourite), and making memories that will last forever. Henry will be missed beyond words, but his love, laughter, and gentle presence will live on in all who knew him.

Special thanks to his family doctor Dr. Grant Chamberlain, KGH medical team, the Hospice House staff and Springfield Funeral Home for their compassion and care.

In accordance of Henry’s wishes, the family will hold a private celebration at a later date. We will toast Henry with a shot of whisky in honour of his memory.
