We Remember
DALGARNO, Margaret Janet
—
December 07, 1942 – January 26, 2026
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Margaret Janet Dalgarno (nee Johnston), who departed peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 83, after a short battle with cancer.
Born on December 7, 1942, in Barney’s River, Nova Scotia, as the second oldest in a robust family of 8 siblings. Growing up on a farm, it was simpler times filled with love, laughter, and a bellyful of homemade food. Upon obtaining her LPN designation, Margaret started her life journey across Canada with stops in Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, and finally settled in Kelowna, where she raised her two boys with her loving husband.
Margaret was a lifelong fan of Elvis, which is well known by all those who loved her. Her collection of his albums and CDs was her prized possession, and she passed on her love for his music to her sons and grandchildren. She visited Graceland and called it the trip of a lifetime. She was affectionately known as “Amma” to her grandchildren. She was soft-spoken, gentle, generous, kindhearted, and had genuine affection for animals, especially dogs.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents and parents-in-law; and oldest sister, Ola; brothers-in-law, Gordon and Len; and sisters-in-law Eleanor and Colleen. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, James Garnet Dalgarno; her sons Kevin (Tracie) and Steven; grandchildren Ethan, Chloe, and Presley. She also leaves behind her remaining siblings, Evelyn, Bob, Shirley, Hector (Ann), Beverly (Brian), Marion (Greg), and brother-in-law Bill, and extended families including nephews and nieces.
Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to all relatives and friends who provided comfort and support during Margaret’s last journey. In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, and she will return to the nature trails along creeks where she walks together with Tyson, Buddy, and Archie.

I am heartbroken to hear of Margs passing. I worked with her as an LPN She was lovely and kind and I adored her. After my own mother passed she would bring me gifts for each occasion and I treasure all of them. I recently ran into her and am so glad to receive one more hug, although I did not know she was ill. Rest in peace Margaret. Such a beautiful soul. ❤️. Phyllis Johnson
