We Remember
LOWELL, Loraine Mildred (née La Porte)
April 13, 1937 — February 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully in West Kelowna on February 10, 2026, at the age of 88.
Loraine was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dale Asher Lowell in 2023; parents Joseph and Alice La Porte ; sisters Janet and Norma; stepdaughter Deborah; and step grandson Jesse.
She is survived by her daughters Judy and Jessica (Jamie); stepchildren Cathy, and Zane (Pauline); sisters Bernice, Linda, and Loretta; grandchildren, Jordan, Joshua (Laura), Blaze (Shelby), Emily (Josh); step grandchildren Zoe (Geoff), Ian, Dallas, Justin, Tina, Carrie, and Donny; 3 great-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren.
Loraine worked at General Motors in Oshawa, for 30 years. She often said you can take the girl out of the motors, but you can’t take the motors out of the girl! After retirement, Loraine and Dale moved the family West, to Kelowna where they had many adventures, and they usually started with a new address.
Loraine was a poet, songwriter, quilter, crocheter, and a master sock maker, and in her later years a painter. She was truly a shining light to all who knew her.
May you rest now, Momma, with Dad by the peaceful shining waters.
A Celebration of Life will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 2026. Time and location to be announced.
If you wish to send a condolence, post photos, or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.

Hi Judy Jessica & Families
So very sad to hear of the passing of your beloved Mother.
She was a good friend of mine from our lives in Oshawa. So special I asked her to be my Bridesmaid at my weddiing September 27th 1963.
We had great times in our teenage years.
We all certainly missed her when they decided to move to Kelowna to be closer to family.
Mom was a woman of many talents.
A lovely lady and she will be remembered by all her Oshawa Friends ❤️
Deepest sympathy to all of her devoted family.
Barb
