We Remember
JAMIESON, Janice Diane (neé Leask)
February 25, 1953 — March 9, 2026
Janice passed peacefully on her own terms on March 9, 2026, at the age of 73, with her husband and daughters by her side.
Born in Olds, Alberta to the late Grace and Earle Leask, Janice was the oldest of five children and often helped with caring for her younger siblings.
She met the love of her life, Pat, in Sylvan Lake in 1969. He saw a beautiful girl standing on the dock on the next-door property and the rest was history. Pat and Janice had a beautiful life together; they were married in 1972 at just 19 and raised two daughters, Jennifer and Catherine. Over the years they had the opportunity to live in many places, including Edmonton, Richmond, Houston, Regina, and Calgary, eventually retiring in Kelowna. They loved to travel and were able to explore many parts of the world, with family trips to Hawaii in later years holding a special place in their hearts. But Janice’s happy place was the cabin at Sylvan Lake – many peaceful moments and much family fun was shared at the Jamieson property and, more recently, at Sunbreaker Cove.
Janice was creative, full of life, and always ready with a warm smile. She was an amazing gardener, seamstress and cook. She loved to be in the kitchen with family, enjoy good food and drink, and to sit outside, pontificating while she soaked up the view. Her happy energy filled every room she entered, and she was known to make friends anywhere she went. She was a loving and fun Nana to her four grandchildren, who she was crazy proud of. She often reflected on how fortunate she was in life; “How lucky are we?”
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Patrick; her daughters Jennifer (Darcey) and Catherine (Graham); her grandchildren Sam, Mara, Brynn and Jonah; her siblings JoAnn (Ken), Cathie (Bob), Jim (Karla) and Bruce (Brenda); and numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be returned to Sylvan Lake where she had so many happy memories.
In honour of Nana, make a comforting pot of soup, get your hands in the dirt and plant something beautiful, share a laugh over a rum and coke with a friend, hug your family tight and tell them you f’n love them… and make sure to save the best bite for last.

Bruce and Brenda – we are so sorry for your loss – Tim and Hanie
She was the greatest great-aunt I could ever dream of. Every time my family and I would go to her house she would always treat me and my sisters with upmost love. She always knew I loved root beer and every single time I went there she would point me to the direction of the fridge full of pop with a smile on her face. She truly was a special person, and the heartful impact she had on all of us will never be forgotten.
To Pat and family, Susan and I were very sad when we heard of Janice’s passing, she provided a ton of laughs over the years, many at your expense! We will cherish our fond memories for ever, may she rest in peace. Take care, Murray/Susan Weeks and Family
Deb, myself the entire team at DunnEnzies send our love to you Paddy and to your entire family. Janice was an absolute gem, the hands down favourite guest of many of our staff. She was full of joy, happy to share a hug and always ready for a laugh. We will miss her quick wit, her stories and jokes and most of all we will miss her beautiful smile. With your permission we will be honouring her tonight at our St Paddy’s day celebration with a song and a toast to a wonderful person and a life well lived. Sending lots of love, Karyn, Deb and the DunnEnzies team.
Thank you Karyn, she would’ve loved that.

Wells and I are so saddened to hear the news of Janice‘s passing. We have so many fond memories of times we shared with her, Patrick and their daughters. We became immediate friends when they moved to Houston. Daughter Jennifer was the same age as our daughter and they established a lifelong friendship. Our sincere condolences are with Patrick and the rest of the family. Love to all of you from Betty and Wells.
I’m so sorry for the loss of Janice. Her warmth and joy for life were impossible to miss — she was exactly the kind of person who lights up a room. She meant so much to my mother, and I know this loss runs very deep for her and for all who loved Janice.
The tribute her family wrote was truly lovely — a beautiful reflection of a beautiful life. Sending so much love to everyone who is grieving her.
My condolences to Paddy, Jennifer and Catherine. Janice indeed was a great part of the warmth and hospitality that defined our property at Sylvan Lake for many years. May she rest in peace.
Sending our sincerest condolences to the Leask family. Brent & Nora
Dear Pat and family, my deepest condolences on the passing of Janice. I will always remember her infectious laugh and welcoming smile.
I’m so sorry about the loss of Janice. I adored her and her great sense of humor. I looked so forward to special occasions when we would all get together. After losing my own mother, years before, she had such a mothering warmth. It made every visit special. Thinking of you all at this very sad time. Our deepest sympathies. Sheila, Darin and Hadley.
Pat, Jennifer, Catherine and Janice’s entire family:
We were so sorry to hear of your loss of Janice.
We first met Janice in 1988 after moving to Calgary. She warmly welcomed us and we became instant friends with her and Pat. We were lucky to have enjoyed so many wonderful times with them – having dinner, playing bridge, camping, going to Sylvan Lake and vacationing together.
We will remember her friendly smile, her warmth, her great sense of humour, her inquisitive mind and, of course, her amazing ability to cook.
May you all cherish your own wonderful memories and times spent with her. She was truly one-of-a-kind. Again, so sorry for your loss.
Love, Donna and Bruce Carey
She was a ‘happy place’ for me; maternal, patriarchal, with the most infectious laugh. So incredibly full of love – unconditional love – culinary love – artistic love – family love. Thank you for everything Auntie Janice. Love you forever
We enjoyed getting to know Janice…..good friend, chef & wonderful sense of humour.
