We Remember
FARRELLY, Mark
June 2, 1970 — April 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts we announce the untimely passing of Mark Edward Farrelly. Mark suffered a serious bowel infection leading to septic shock, which ultimately took his young life at Kelowna General Hospital on the evening of Thursday April 9th. Mark passed peacefully at the age of 56, surrounded by love and family.
Mark leaves to mourn his passing his devoted and loving mother, Roberta; beloved sister, Debbie; Brother-in-law, John; nieces, Hannah and Keeva; many cousins, aunts, uncles, and life-long friends both in Ireland and Canada; and of course, Snowball the cat.
Mark was born June 2nd, 1970, in Belfast Ireland. He was raised in Leduc, Alberta, where he grew into the immensely caring and strong son, brother, and person we remember him to be. A fierce protector, Mark wielded his strength in service of those he cared about. He had a tender heart for all his pets and would want it known that he preferred animals to most people. Except, of course, his mother, for whom his fondness, respect and profound love knew no bounds. Blessed with a cultured mind and soul, Mark had remarkable taste in music and a sharp eye for collectibles. From Black Sabbath to Dean Martin and from comic books to Cameros, he had a knack for recognizing true treasures. He had an affinity for landscaping and enjoyed taking care of the yard for his mother. Mark was good to the land he walked upon, despised chemicals, and held the laws of nature in high regard. He had hoped to one day return Ireland to reconnect with his roots. Mark was as proud as he was headstrong. Any obstacle he faced, he met on his own, with dignity. He forged his own path in this life, living honestly and with conviction. Like Frank Sinatra, Mark ‘did it his way’. May he now join them, along with his cherished Kitten in an eternity of ceaseless joy and enduring love.
Mark’s life will be honoured by close family on April 17th. A celebration of his life open to all who wish to attend will be held in the upcoming summer months at his home that he so adored and cared for diligently. For information, please email robertaf888@icloud.com.
Flowers are preferred and welcome. Roberta would like to thank the doctors, nurses and paramedics for their incredible efforts, the people at Springfield Funeral Home, and most of all, her remarkable friends and family for their tremendous love and support as we navigate this devastating time. She sends a special thank you to the ladies from her Passion4Art group for their kindness.
We love you Mark, may your spirit be unbound.
