We Remember
MORRISH, Yvonne Antoinette
May 17, 1927 — May 4, 2026
It is with sadness that we announce the loss of Yvonne Antoinette Morrish, who passed away at the Spring Valley Care Centre in Kelowna, BC, on May 4, 2026, at the age of 98.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Clint (Jodi); grandchildren Lisa (Darelle) and David (Kim); great-grandchildren Preston and Summer; along with her niece, Francine, grandnieces and grandnephew Kristen, Kayley, Jared, and Jessica, and eight great-grandnieces and -nephews; and her nephew Maurie (Cheri), grandniece Samantha, and three great-grandnieces and -nephews.
Yvonne now goes to join those who passed before her, including her daughter, Laurie Morrish, and sister, Diane Prieur.
Born in Penticton, BC, on May 17, 1927, Yvonne remained fiercely independent throughout her life, living on her own until October 2025. She proudly described herself as a “98-year-old stubborn Italian woman”. She had a deep love for rescuing cats from the humane society, especially her beloved orange cat, Jude. She also had a passion for travel, antiques, and above all else, art – the true centre of her life.
An exceptionally talented artist, Yvonne began with watercolour painting and went on to experiment with many different mediums throughout the years. She created thousands of paintings and ink sketches, many of which were displayed in galleries throughout the Okanagan, Vancouver, and Victoria. It is likely that many homes throughout the Okanagan still proudly display one of Yvonne’s pieces, as she loved giving her artwork away to anyone who happened to visit: grocery delivery drivers, firefighters, gardeners, and anyone else lucky enough to be invited into her art room.
Dedicated to her craft, Yvonne attended every art workshop she could and even hosted workshops of her own. Her talent earned her many awards over the years, including recognition from the Governor General of Canada, and she also shared her passion with the community by writing an art column in the local newspaper for many years.
Yvonne left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her, whether through the stories she shared from her travels or the beauty and passion reflected in her artwork.
Family and friends will each honour Yvonne in their own ways. No formal service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to the Okanagan Humane Society.
